چکیده

Rainwater harvesting systems (RWHs) are implemented globally to bridge the frequent water supply-demand gaps. This study explores, through farmer household surveys ( n = 492), how farmers perceived benefits of RWHs, equitability benefits, and role contextual psychological factors towards behaviour maintaining such systems. The is carried out in a semi-arid catchment Indian state Gujarat where form Check dams (CDs), have been extensively. Results show that CDs good rainfall years enhanced availability for expanding crops irrigated areas. Farmers reported limited dry years. because runoff no carryover stored groundwater, due underlying shallow hard rock aquifer with little primary porosity, from wet Overall, ∼ 40%–50% sampled decreased distance. reflects spatially inequitable distribution skewed nearest CDs. sustainability challenge already ∼40% reportedly not working 72.8% doing maintenance activity. 91.2% playing its construction. results (participation during construction, economic indicators) sociopsychological (attention CD condition, effort) significantly affect highlights need complement RWHs wider drought management demand interventions achieve resilience, adherence project exit protocols secure investments.

Sustainability of Rainwater Harvesting System in terms of Water Quality

Water is considered an everlasting free source that can be acquired naturally. Demand for processed supply water is growing higher due to an increasing population. Sustainable use of water could maintain a balance between its demand and supply. Rainwater harvesting (RWH) is the most traditional and sustainable method, which could be easily used for potable and nonpotable purposes both in reside...

Rainwater Harvesting and Social Networks: Visualising Interactions for Niche Governance, Resilience and Sustainability

Visualising interactions across urban water systems to explore transition and change processes requires the development of methods and models at different scales. This paper contributes a model representing the network interactions of rainwater harvesting (RWH) infrastructure innovators and other organisations in the UK RWH niche to identify how resilience and sustainability feature within nich...

Life cycle assessment of domestic and agricultural rainwater harvesting systems.

To further understanding of the environmental implications of rainwater harvesting and its water savings potential relative to conventional U.S. water delivery infrastructure, we present a method to perform life cycle assessment of domestic rainwater harvesting (DRWH) and agricultural rainwater harvesting (ARWH) systems. We also summarize the design aspects of DRWH and ARWH systems adapted to t...
